The Circle of Care is Celebrating 25 years of service to our area families with a host of new endeavors to take our families into the next 25 years as well as two Celebration Events!
25th Celebration/Ribbon Cutting
September 17th, 2021 | Noon Eastern
Just prior to COVID, we were fortunate to have the opportunity to relocate to a new facility that provides more space while lowering overhead costs. Unfortunately, with the pandemic, we were unable to do a ribbon-cutting to introduce the new facility to the community and our partners throughout the state. On September 17th, 2021 at 12:00 Noon Eastern Time we will be celebrating 25 years of service to area families and holding a ribbon cutting of the new facility at 14 Medical Park, Valley, AL. This will be a free, fun event for all, and we hope you will join us.
25th Celebration Fund Raiser
October 2nd, 2021 | 7:00 P.M. Eastern
We have traditionally been funded through a combination of state funds and local support. However, to meet the additional needs in a post-covid world, additional funds are needed. Therefore, we are also having a 25th Anniversary Celebration Fundraising Event at the Burrow Warehouse in West Point, GA on October 2nd, 2021 at 7:00 P.M. Eastern Time. This will be an event you will not want to miss, as it will be a fun evening of celebration, live music, and heavy hors d’oeuvres.
Starting in 1996 with just a couple of core services and programs, over the last 25 years we have continued to identify resource gaps and develop programs to meet the needs of area families so that they can thrive for generations.
As we look toward the future, we have a new facility that is allowing us launch new programs to meet additional needs regarding family safety, resources. relationships, finances, and wellness.
Through a partnership with Auburn University’s Marriage and Family Therapy program, we are able to offer counseling services at a standard discounted rate of $50 per session. Not only is this standard rate affordable, but the price goes down even further dependent upon income. For more on our counseling program click here.
Through various partnerships, and in conjunction with Southern Union, we are able to offer workforce development/career development for anyone who needs it. All of our Workforce/Career programs include career assessment and guidance, household money management training, soft skills training, resume writing, interview skills, and conflict management as well as problem-solving skill development. Those who complete ASCEND have priority hiring opportunities at local industries paying at least $14/hour with benefits and advancement opportunities.
Since one way families find financial stability is through entrepreneurship, we work with aspiring entrepreneurs to help them get their business started and accelerate its growth. Not only does this provide access to training, a team of local experts in various fields, and a mastermind group so that you have the support you need to be successful, but also provides access to Auburn University’s Business Accelerator Programs. Additionally, this includes our area’s first endeavors in providing physical space for emerging businesses in such a way as to keep overhead costs down as they grow to a point in becoming able to operate without these supports in a more premium location. The first tenant in this endeavor is Searchlight Counseling, which means that additional counseling services are available at our new facility!
School-Based Family Resources
In order to better support families who have school-based children, we are launching new programs in partnership with our local schools! We will have staff stationed in schools in Lanett, LaFayette, and Valley to better assist all families in reaching their goals. Families will be able to access a staff member on school campuses and walk away with a personalized plan and the education, resources, and support needed to take their family from wherever they are to reaching their goals.
Our area developed an immediate need for after-school and summer programming when the local Boys and Girls’ Club closed. The community stepped up and began reimagining what could be, and the Circle of Care is excited to be a part of the new Growth Academy. This is an exciting, high-energy learning environment designed to help our kids find their passion and spur their creativity. Utilizing project-based learning that focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Arts, and Athletics, kids will gain the opportunity to find their niche, hone their gifts and talents, and make the connections between their passion and their learning. Our aim is for kids to learn to turn information into knowledge so that every child is prepared to succeed in school and in life because our kids are worth it!
